Dental plaque will be home to many bacteria. These bacteria can cause a variety of dental problems, generally bad breath (halitosis). Bad breath can occur because bad bacteria in the mouth produce sulfur gas (sulfur). 

In addition, the acid released by bacteria can make teeth cavities. Dental plaque can also erode the brace of the teeth and cause the teeth to shake and even come off.

Dental plaque that is left continuously can harden and cause gingivitis (gingivitis). This condition makes the gums inflamed, swollen, and easy to bleed. Over time, caries or cavities can occur.

The disease causes the appearance of pockets that create a distance between the gums and teeth. When the sac is filled with bacteria, the immune system naturally releases chemicals to fight the bacteria.

Reactions from chemicals released by the body and bacteria can damage tooth bones. Eventually this causes the bones, gums, and supporting tissue of the gums to be destroyed. Without proper treatment, periodontitis can cause teeth to date or come off.

Bacteria that cause gum disease (periodontitis) can also increase the risk of heart disease. Bacteria contained in tartar can infect the supporting tissue of the teeth and can spread throughout the body through the bloodstream, which can affect the heart valves.
